Living Sustainably

In his classic essay “The Land Ethic” Aldo Leopold makes a strong case for enlarging our sense of community to include the land. He notes that all ethics are based on the individual’s sense of community and to have an ethical relationship with the land we must enlarge our definition of community to include “soils, waters, plants, and animals, or collectively: the land.” (A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold.
